AW14 Fashion Picks | Part One |

In the UK, it's officially the first day of Autumn. I've started putting together my winter wardrobe and these are some of my favourite outfits and purchases so far.

1) I absolutely love my new coat from Topshop. It's a 'boyfriend' style coat as it creates a slight oversized look. (The pictures on here don't really do this coat justice, it looks even nicer as part of an outfit and in real life).

2) I bought this Tartan Scarf from Boohoo last year, and I still love it! It's perfect for keeping you warm and cosy but also looks great too! It brings colour to any outfit and looks perfect on black, I am also looking forward to styling it with the topshop coat.
Alternatively I also bought this grey and more subtle scarf from ASOS

3 & 4) Collared shirts under jumpers is definitely a look I am loving this year! I briefly mentioned this jumper on the post 'Winter Favourites' . This green knitted jumper is from New Look and is available in a range of colours, however I chose this green colour as I wanted to style it with this chequered shirt also from New Look.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for this winter and I'd love to see what your fashion favourites for this winter are :) If you'd like to see one, I'm thinking about doing a AW14 lookbook featuring some of the clothes in todays post, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested :) Thanks for visiting my blog,

Favourite Brownie Recipe

One of my favourite puddings to make (and eat!) are chocolate brownies, so I thought I'd share with you my favourite brownie recipe. The recipe I've been using for the last couple of years is 'Jamie's Bloomin' Brilliant Brownies' by Jamie Oliver

Annoyingly my cameras battery decided to play up once I started baking so in between showing the ingredients and the finished result I don't have any photos unfortunately :(

Ingredients

1) 65g Plain flour, sifted
2) 4 large eggs
3) 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids), broken up
4) 250g unsalted butter
5) 80g Cocoa powder, sifted
6) 1 teaspoon baking powder
7) Milk chocolate chunks
8) 360g caster sugar

Method (taken from Jamie Oliver's website but slightly edited)

Preheat your oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Line a 24cm square baking tin with greaseproof paper. In a large bowl over some simmering water, melt the butter and the chocolate and mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and sugar, then add this to the chocolate mixture. Stir together well. Beat the eggs and mix in until you have a silky consistency.

Pour your brownie mix into the baking tray, and place in the oven for around 25 minutes.  (However I've found if you do want your brownies to be slightly more cooked then bake for 50mins). You don't want to overcook them so, unlike cakes, you don't want a skewer to come out all clean. The brownies should be slightly springy on the outside but still gooey in the middle.

And here is one I made earlier....  haha I love my brownies with vanilla ice cream or cream, today I opted for vanilla ice cream..yumm.

I hope this post has tempted you to make some of these brownies! If it has I would love to see how yours turns out, either tweet me a picture or tag me on instagram (links on the right) or in the comments below link me your favourite recipes!

What's In My Bag?

The most requested blog post this week has been the 'Whats in my bag' post. The bag I have been using the most this summer is this black and white one from Primark (Adjustable long strap so can use as a shoulder bag). Due to the size of this bag, I can only really fit the bare essentials in it. I tend to use this bag for everyday use and have a bigger bag when I need to fit more stuff in.

1) My phone
I'm pretty sure most people nowadays own a phone of some sort, I use mine to connect via social media, messaging and to make calls. The weather and gaming apps are also very useful ;) haha. The case I'm using at the moment is from Marc Jacobs

2) My purse
I've had this purse for about 2years now, and I absolutely love it. It's from river Island ( I think they still sell similar ones). Although it is quite bulky, and can be quite heavy, I find it to be the perfect size as I can fit everything I need.

3) A black pen
Although this is a very boring item, I think its a very useful item to carry around. You never know when you're going to need one right?

4) Gum
This is definitely a must have, and your answer to having fresh breath all the time! Nothings worse than talking to someone with smelly breath haha. The extra original peppermint gum is by far my favourite.

5) Pocket mirror
This mirror is from a cute little shop in my town which was called 'Octopus' but has recently changed to Pylones. Mirrors on the go are great for checking food in your teeth, makeup and hair (sounds quite vain really doesn't it? haha).

6) Nail file
As you might have seen from my summer nails post , I have quite long nails so to avoid any chipped or broken nails I carry around this nail file from Next with me.

7) Mini Mascara
I bought this very small mini mascara from MAC, which is perfect for carrying around just incase I need a touch up throughout the day.

8) Academic Planner
This is my calendar for the next year. I write all my reminders/notes in here and it helps remind me what I have planned for the day! Would definitely recommend one of these if you struggle with organisation!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what's in my bag, I'd love to see what's in your bag, so if you have a post/are going to do a post on this, comment below and I'll be sure to check it out!

My Winter Essentials

In England the summer is officially over and the winter months are creeping up on us, so its time to bring out our old winter favourites and buy some more! I've listed a few of my essentials for this winter...

1) Winter duvets. One of the best things about winter is keeping nice and cosy inside. I recently discovered primark do lovely duvet covers (and for a very reasonable price too!)

2)  Candles are perfect for winter. For me they are a definite favourite. Current favourites at the moment are 'Jasmine and Tigerlily' from next and 'Red berry and Jasmine' from primark

3) Comfy pjs are perfect for winter, I'm still loving ones I bought last year from primark. (There definitely seems to be a recurring theme of primark here, but I just love finding lovely pieces in there! haha).

4) Onesies! If you've never tried on a onesie then I can ensure you when you do, you'll think its the comfiest thing you've ever worn. This year I've opted for a primark giraffe onesie. The material is so soft and cosy, perfect for keeping yourself warm...although I wouldn't recommend leaving the house in one..haha.

5) Jumpers. A new season means new clothes (yay). Shops are slowly starting to bring in their winter season collections. My first buy of the season has been this green jumper from New Look. I've styled it with jeans from 7 For All Mankind and a chequered shirt from New Look. (Picture coming soon).

Let me know if you'd like an updated version of this in the next couple of months, or any other requests for blog posts you may have. (Think I might do a poll in the next couple of days).
                                               What are your winter essentials?
