12 Beauty Hacks That Will Change Your Life

1 | To make lipstick last longer, apply lipstick as normal but then place a tissue over the lips and brush translucent powder lightly over the tissue and remove. This will make the lipstick last much longer.

2 | Apply concealer in a triangle shape outward from beneath each eye to form a triangle. This will give a better lift to the eye along with lightening it up.

3 | To create the perfect cat eye/winged eyeliner look place a credit card at the outer corner of your eye and line it up to the end of your eyebrow. Hold it in place while you contour your lids with shadow. When you're done, you'll have a perfectly straight, symmetrical template to trace with your liner to create a flawless cat eye.

4 | Adding a drop of peppermint oil or a pinch of cinnamon in your lip balm, gives your lips an instant plump.

5 | Before applying nail polish, store it in the fridge. You'll never have to worry about air bubbles ever again.

6 | Heat up your eyelash curler with a hair dyer to help your lashes curl easier and stayed curled for longer. When the lash curler heats up wait until it cools slightly (you don't want to burn your eyelid) then clamp down on your lashes to curl them.

7 | After painting your nails, air dry them for a couple of minutes and then place them into cold water for a minute or two. Your nails will dry almost instantly.

8 | Before applying lipstick draw an 'x' on the centre of your upper lip with your lipstick to get the perfect cupids bow.

9 | Apply vaseline on your pulse points before spraying on your perfume to make the scent last longer.

10 | Applying white eyeliner on your waterline makes your eyes appear less red, brighter and larger.

11 | Easily create ombre nails by painting the colours you wish to use onto a sponge and applying it onto the nail.

12 | To create your own gel eyeliner using a regular eyeliner pencil, hold the pencil over a flame for one second. Allow the eyeliner pencil to then cool for 15 seconds and then apply to your eyes for a bolder look.

Perfect (Paw) Print

When I saw this shirt in River Island I just couldn't resist. I absolutely adore this print! I love the detail of the gold buttons and the dogs looks so cute.

I styled mine with MOM Jeans, boots and a leather jacket, however you could dress it up with a skirt and heels. You can also choose to tuck the shirt in or leave it out, the shirt is quite long so would look great with black leggings.

TOPSHOP MOM JEANS

Jeans- Topshop
Jumper- Zara
Belt- Topshop
Boots- New look

I think with this style of jean you either love it or you hate it. I personally love it. I'm not going to lie- I wasn't sure about them at first, as I'm not really a jean kind of person. However when I finally decided to try them on (they've been in Topshop for ages) I immediately loved them.

I've styled them with this gorgeous white jumper and (although not in the pictures) I also style them with an oversized 'boyfriend' coat and to add a splash of colour my favourite red tartan scarf.

Do you own a pair of MOM Jeans?

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara

The Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara claims to 'magnify lashes to twice their size and thicken them to maximum volume'. I didn't see much volumizing but I don't need much help in that department as my eyelashes are fairly thick. The mascara does however lengthen your lashes.

The mascara doesn't clump, applies very smoothly and throughout the day does not transfer onto my skin. I've found only one coat is enough to achieve a lovely lash look.
The sample size (3.4ml) is perfect for travelling and carrying around in your handbag. (The cap also screws very tightly, so no mess is made). The packaging is also very chic and simple, which I love.
I will say though, this product does have a 'wet effect' and because of this the mascara does take a while to dry so you do have to be careful when you apply it.

Although I don't think I'd use this mascara as part of my everyday makeup routine I do think it's great for touchups or if you're looking for a mascara to purely lengthen your lashes.

Have you tried this Mascara? What do you think?

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder

The 'Rimmel London Stay Matte powder' has been a favourite of mine for a long time. I mentioned it waay back on my 'Everyday,Affordable Makeup' post and haven't stopped using it since.

I absolutely love the velvety smooth feel of this powder. The powder keeps my T-zone matte for up to 5 hours without any touch ups. However if you do have very oily skin a touch up every couple of hours might be needed.

The product delivers well without a powdery, chalky feel and look. It helps keep my face oil free for hours with a flawless finish. The only disadvantage of this powder is the packaging isn't that great, the lid doesn't lock securely so it's not very travel friendly.

Overall however, I think this is a really great product with an affordable price tag. If you have oily skin and want light coverage to prevent any unwanted shine then you should definitely try out this product.

Have you tried the Rimmel Matte Powder? What are your thoughts?

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes

It's really important to ensure you wash your makeup brushes regularly after use. When you apply concealer or foundation to your face, bacteria is picked up from your skin onto the brushes, which then sits there until the next time you use the brush, except this time the bacteria is swept across your face and onto your skin. Causing you to break out in spots and blackheads. Gross isn't it?

To clean your brushes you will need:
  • Your sink
  • Bowl (optional)
  • Shampoo/conditioner/brush cleaning product
  • A towel
1) Begin by lining up the brushes you'd like to clean. One at a time, run your brushes under lukewarm water rinsing out all of the residual makeup. (Tip- try and avoid water touching the part of the brush where the handle meets the brushes, as this can cause the glue to loosen and eventually break your brush).

2) At this point you can either fill a bowl with lukewarm water and a squirt of shampoo or you can do what I usually do (saves time and washing up) and squirt the shampoo onto your hand and swirl the brush in your palm rinsing out with water every so often.
3) Keep repeating step 2 until the water runs clear from the brush. Once clear wipe your brush clean, and try and get the bristles as dry as possible (without damaging them!)

4) Lay your brushes on a towel or a cloth and leave to dry (I usually do them in the evening and leave them to dry overnight).

5) Use the beautifully clean brushes, and see the affects on your skin! :)

Hope you found this blog post helpful! How do you clean your brushes and do you have any tips on how to?

Ikea Haul

Ikea is definitely one of my favourite places to shop. Unfortunately the closest Ikea is over 2 hours away so when I get the opportunity to go, I usually end up getting quite a lot..whoops. As I went last thursday I thought I'd share with you what I got :)

The first thing I saw upon entering the shop was some pretty white lanterns. The price in Ikea never fails to amaze me so at £2.00 I couldn't resist buying a couple of those! I also bought a gorgeous white decorative pot which I filled with a fake flower. I've never bought a fake flower before, and although it doesn't look like the most realistic thing it really brightens the room! I also bought a similar smaller pot which I am using to store my makeup brushes.

A more practical item I bought is this desk lamp, which I desperately needed as the evenings are becoming much darker! I went for this chic silver 'Forsa' lamp- I've had my eye on it for some time!
Have you bought anything from ikea lately?

Chocolate Cookies Recipe

Out of all the cookie recipes I've tried this one is definitely my favourite. The recipe is inspired by the gorgeous Vivianna does makeup and I can safely say for me, these really are the BEST cookies I've ever tasted.

Ingredients

1) 75g Cocoa Powder
2) 300g Caster Sugar
3) 275g Self Raising flour
4) 200g Butter
5) 1 Large Egg
6) Mixture of dark, milk and white chocolate

Method

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Line a couple of baking trays with greaseproof paper. In a large bowl mix together the butter and sugar until its a smooth consistency.

Next, crack your egg into the bowl and add the remaining dry ingredients (self raising flour and cocoa powder).

If your mixture is too dry add a splash of milk, or if too sticky add more flour. After you're happy with the consistency (sticky enough to stay together but not too sticky so it sticks to everything! haha) break the chocolate into small pieces and add to the mixture.

Once you've mixed the chocolate in, use your hands to separate the mixture into small blobs. (I usually make about 16).
Pop them into the oven for about 11 minutes (I'd keep checking them around this time and leave in until you're happy with them).

However remember, when you first take the cookies out the oven they won't look cooked. After leaving them to cool for around 30 minutes they will be perfect and ready to eat!

I hope this post has tempted you to make these cookies! If it has I would love to see how yours turn out, either tweet me a picture or tag me on instagram (links on the right) or in the comments below link me your favourite recipes!

Rosey Apple Candle

This gorgeous candle was a gift from a lovely friend of mine for my 18th birthday. I always have candles burning so this was the perfect present. The candle is from a shop called 'Ellie Ellie' and upon browsing their website I found they sell the cutest, most gorgeous gifts.

The candle chosen for me was the 'Retro Sweet Scent Rosey Apples Candle'. It came in a white box, with the words 'The Happiest and Sweetest Of Days' written along the front, (how cute is that?). I think a description of the scent cannot do it justice, however I would describe it as a combination of sweets and apples. The smell is strong but not too overpowering which is exactly what I like.

My friend had chosen to customise the candle making it even more special and personal with the words 'Happy Birthday Eva!'. I have used the candle now and then since the end of august and despite its size, the candle is still burning.

I'm really looking forward to buying my friends and family gifts from here and hope they love them as much as I love my gift.

Have you been given any lovely gifts recently or have a favourite gift shop?
